CHENNAI: The city police may file more cases against Sun Pictures chief operating officer Hansraj Saxena, arrested on Sunday on charges of cheating a film distributor.
Sources said Saxena, also named in the FIR pertaining to the attack on a hotel in Guindy in 2010, may be arrested in another case of film-related cheating.
With regard to the case in which he was arrested on Sunday, T S Selvaraj said he had been threatened after taking up distribution in the Salem area of the Tamil film 'Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai', starring Vishal, for Rs 1.25 crore. After Murugan, who was initially given distribution rights for the area, backed out on seeing the rushes of the movie, Saxena called Selvaraj to take up the distribution rights of the movie in the area.
According to Selvaraj's complaint, Saxena called him at 9pm on October 11, 2010, and asked him to come to Gemini Colour Lab. Accordingly, Selvaraj and his son, Thangamuthu, met Saxena at the lab, where Selvaraj was offered the distribution rights of 'Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai'.
"He told me I would get a lot of profit. The same night, I borrowed from friends and relatives and gave Rs 1.06 crore to Saxena. Later, I paid Rs 8 lakh in cash and Rs 11 lakh in a cheque for a total of Rs 1.25 crore," Selvaraj told TOI.
